Standard headliners

Can you just use the center section of a multi piece headliner for a standard?

… sure - that'll work... is best to make sure the center section has the cardboard lip, sewn-in, front and back to get a tight fit - I have, many times, installed a '60s vinyl center-section headliner in a split or oval standard application and sell all the resta' the liner in the classifieds for $25...
