I didn't want to hi-jack a current thread so I will follow-up here:

Can someone tell me the size of that nut or confirm that it is M8?

I am away from the van and the ball arm (and nut) got lost during the rebuild process - have ordered a new arm but need to supply the nit and washer too.

Common VW nut, many others on your van, mostly steering and shift linkage.
Weddle says M8x1.25 locking nut
