So I found someone selling a type 82 chassis, but I want to make sure its real and not a rebuilt one. The chassis number is 2-037894, is this correct for a kubelwagen?

Sounds correct. What about some pictures? We'll be able to tell you more then. What is its history?

The Original owner got it from Norway but died before he could start on his project, now his grandson is selling it. It's in Germany at the moment and he only wants 500 euro for it.

I have photo's but they are on my laptop and I left it at work :/

Photo's tomorrow then? When you say project, do you mean restoring the chassis for its own sake, or is the aim to try and find/buy a body in the future? Any engine or gearbox available as well?

I know a scrap dealer in Poland that has a body and found a 54 engine in Holland. As for the gearbox, it comes with the chassis.

As for the photo's It will be for 2 weeks from now, workplace closed down due to a colleague getting corona and the bossman wants us all at home just to be safe.

Sounds like the whole potential scenario is a pan European project! Original owner from Norway, Present owner in Germany, Intended owner in Belgium, Body available in Poland, Engine from The Netherlands, & many parts needed available from Czechia.

If the chassis comes with a gearbox, and all for 500 Euros, providing everything is half decent or better, then it sounds like you have a bargain on your hands. I have to wonder what the Kubel body is like, after sitting in a Polish scrapyard for heaven only knows how many years.

Kübelwagen numbers have been restamped many times but after you post pictures we can determine if it is original or not. The rear axle supports should have kdf logo. If it is the real deal 500 euros is a joke, real usable chassis with an orginal gear box is worth about 10 times that

It looks like a Kubel chassis and transaxle; however, the floorpans were replaced with bracing for some other type of body, and the framehead was heavily modified for some other type of front suspension.
