I have a rough middle seat that I bought many years ago to use on my 59. It is a curved back with sections of old carmel brown vinyl. It is missing the grab bar. The odd thing is there are no holes in fixed seat frame for the aluminum ends or signs of holes in the paperboard back with ash tray mount. The folding section has the holes. Did they ever make an early seat without a grab bar?

What does the top of the fixed part of the frame look like if the tops of the tubes are not open for a grab bar?

The fixed frame has the open end to accept the grab bar end. It just does not have the hole for the retaining screw from the back side.

Ok, I misunderstood what you were saying.

No little holes in the frame for the screws does seem strange.
