Ok lets start simple.........82 crank, fk-8, had this short block sorta together for 15 yrs....ouch, just took it apart today. Everything still beautiful.
Case it still 85s.
Have CB Wedgeport heads, 1.4 rockers.
Question? Carbs, Pistons, Exhaust to match the wedgeports with the fk-8 ??

You have 82mm crank, FK-8 cam, 1.4 rockers, & wedge port heads
I'd Get 94mm pistons, sell the FK-8 and get an FK-10, 48 IDA's with the Berg 35/40 venturies, 10:1 CR, 1 3/4" exhaust _________________ 2017 Street Comp Champion - Thunder Valley Raceway Park - Noble, OK

Yeah I like to use beehive oval wire springs.
There are four or five different kinds people have found ways of making fit, which handle different lifts. Depends on the lift and pressure you need.
They are kinda expensive. |

Yes I use them and sell beehive conversion kits. Yes they are pricy but because of the long spring life are a good value.

Here ya go.....The two middles were cut, anyone notice anything? Can they be welded back and re-cut??
Now the Beehives, the fat spring is for the big holes and the skinny spring is for the standard holes.
These were bought in 06...
Which springs for the fk-8?
I have 44s forgot to mention, Bologna Webers.....
The wedgeports - fk-8 - 44s, would they go together? and what size pistons? exhaust......
Been out of the loop since 2000s....Back to my money sucking VW
More pics to come |

Hello
The Head question, the spring question?
Ideas?
Can the heads be welded up and re-cut?
Whats the difference between the fat beehive springs and the skinny behive springs?
I see different rpm ranges for the springs 7000, 7250, 7500
anyone? |

FK-8 is a great cam for that application.
Agreed with big set of IDA carbs will get the max out of your setup.
Get ready for low 12sec 1/4mi passes.
Get the head welded up. Then just go with VW650 springs.
the rust on those beehives is cause to pitch them. |

I probably misunderstood, but I thought the OP was talking about the valve guide bosses which have been machined down. |
