Does anyone have a recommendation for a Westfalia repair shop in/near Toledo, Ohio. I’m traveling through Ohio on my way to PORTLAND, Oregon and my clutch slave cylinder on my 82 Westfalia has failed.

Not familiar with what’s in Toledo but there’s a few shops in Columbus that may be able to help. Northend Wrench, Motorkars, German Autowerks. My guess is that no one will have parts in stock however.

You are not going to find much in Toledo, I think I had the only Vanagon in the area when I was there in 2012. everything rusts out there.
The walmart there couldn't even put on new tires, they thought somebody had welded my lug nuts on my back wheels, I had to explain to them that they were called bolts. (not kidding) I would try bleeding the clutch and see what you get. Or see if you can find an old school mechanic, slave cyclinder is easy to change, you may have to show somebody how to do it.

I will be in Toledo next week but will be there on business. If there is a part you cannot source locally, perhaps I could bring it if you cannot source in the interim. The slave is not difficult to source, but I recall the bracket access being a pain and I had mine reinforced and the difficult nut welded in place like VW should have Any competent mechanic could handle this.

Presuming you are traveling from the East Coast... If you haven't made it to OH yet, consider reaching out to my old friend Mike Pottle's shop, Nordkuste Performance, in Brooklyn Heights OH (eastern side of the state). You can find the shop online. He's a foreign car and VW guru, and owns a Syncro himself.

Good luck.
