Started the STF (sweep the floor) experimental mouse motor build tonight by cracking the shortblock to inspect and clean. 69x94 with a w130 cam (as soon as I find a good, used one and lifter... everything on this engine will be used.

Case studs are out. Next... clean again and reinstall the case savers that came out with the studes. New CBPerformance mil-spec studs go in!

Well, I bought some used fiberglass notch fenders to sort the twisted up/torn metal issues I have on the original rear fenders. They finally arrived and someone had cut them to fit to a fasty/square. So, plan B!
Start pounding on metal!!! There was a significant push on the RR between the light base and trunk lid. It was twisted, bent opposite the correct curve and basically a complete mess. When I started this a couple hours ago, the inside edge if the lamp base was 3/8" to 1/2" away from the metal. Now, the complex lower curve is all I still have to move. Woot!
Any suggestions on how to close the remaining gap wpuld be awesome! I am a complete novice with my hammer and 2 dollies. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

You're about the only guy I know who would buy fiberglass rear fenders that have been modified to fit on a Fastback.
As for the gap between the light housing and the fender, why not build it up with your mig welder. A copper block would help in building it up too. Then you can grind it to shape. It'll probably take you less time to do that, than to fix it with fiberglass and bondo. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

I don't know if you have enough metal left there, as it looks like it might have already been attempted once before (a fix). I mean the upper part looks like it's broken loose other than the strip under the light housing. That same piece is pushed forward, causing some of the gap. It looks like rust might have beat you to fixing it though. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

If the metal is there you try flattening some and then adding the radius back in. If it is not, then cut it out and weld in a new section. |

I started the wiring process for the race car today. Almost all wires are routed and about 75% have the correct ends with their correct ends added. A few monitoring idiot lights are yet to be added and the msd box has to be wired it, but... for Capt. Ihatewiring, it was a good day.
I even added disconnects for the headlights and taillights for removing fenders at the track.

Well, at least You didn't have a lot of wiring to do. Compared to a lot of newer cars old VWs are simple. Your electronics for the engine are probably more complicated. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Rear body wiring in, less license light
The right rear lamp housing isn't a perect fit, but compared to before I beat on the fender, it is awesome. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"

I started fitting the flush mount rear window tonight, but I need to buy a new drill bit. Only the center upper and lower holes are drilled so far. _________________ 64 No'back Speedster "Pearl"
