It’s awesome seeing it making its way back together. It’s hard to believe how far it has come.
The 21 will be worked on next (alongside another project that has been simmering for a while). I have a bunch of metal for it and am looking forward to removing it from the frame jig.
Your projects are amazing. I am blown away by your craftsmanship and attention to detail. Your truck is one of my favorites. I can’t wait to see you put your barndoor back together.

I’m still working on the last bits of metal repair on the bus. The doors are going back together:

I got the “pivot” pin out of the gas pedal:

I welded the floor bracket on to the new floor. The WW floor comes with this bracket, but the KF one does not.
I also filled in the holes from the gas heater control cable. I will add a few more pictures as soon as I can.

Matt came up to the shop this weekend, and we are going over what remains to be done on the bus. I will take some pictures of the progress. For now I am trying to finish up the doors. We made some progress yesterday:

I like and admire all the great work you're doing to all those busses, but I wonder if you'll ever get to pay attention to that cool Puch VS50 moped that I'm seeing hanging on the wall in the background of your pictures? Here in Holland they still can be seen out on the streets sometimes but it's probably a very rare specimen over there. https://live.staticflickr.com/2839/13493100793_65462b9320_b.jpg

When I bought it I thought it was really neat. I had no idea what it was but thought it deserved to not be scrapped. I would love to resurrect it, but don’t plan to any time soon. If someone out there wants to get it going I would gladly donate it to their cause.
Thanks ddutch!

I think this is a nice 2-stroke 50cc moped in its original form, so I guess you did a good job by saving it. Judging by the look of your front fender you own a MV50 or MS50 model. In the US they were sold under the ''Allstate'' and ''Sears'' labels. The air filter housing is the same type as this one on the 1956-1957 Allstate model; https://www.searsallstateriders.com/model/810.94000.html

Most parts are still available as reproduction, like fenders, seats, lights and exhausts. This restored one from 1957 sold for $7500 at an auction in 2018; https://www.mecum.com/lots/LV0118-314791/1957-allstate-moped/
Compered to a bus this should be very easy to fix and I think this Austrian moped could go very well with a 1950s VW split window. Smile

Hmm. It would be fun to put it back together. We shall see.

This door and I are battling. I’m not winning but at least I’m gaining. The outside is repaired:

Now to finish the inside:

And then the other door.
At least we are making progress!

I put the door on to make sure everything is good before welding in the inner pieces. There’s a lot of flex and I don’t want any bulging or gap issues. I think it’s going to be good.

I finished the drivers side door:

Now my hang up is the inside of the passenger door. I had another really bad door that i could not bring myself to cut up. After my internal battle ended, I decided that I had to do it. This is the donor door:

Now to piece it in. There is still some welding left on the very bottom too:

Very clever how you took it from the top of one and put it on the bottom of the other.

I figured I could probably make the piece but it wouldn’t have been as clean as the og area. Since the inside of the door was the same all the way around I decided to use it. It’s deeper at the bottom, so I will need to add a little bit, but at least it will look right. For a spot that no one will ever see haha.
Thanks BarryL

Drivers sore is done done:

I had to replace the bottoms of the door skin stiffeners:

They had both come completely loos from the door skin, so I cleaned up the mating surfaces and glued them both in:

The very bottom is now completely done:

I'm not sure what happened! The doors are done now. I am now working on cleaning up the small pieces, and making this bus roll. I just installed the new WW fuel tank. (I dumped out the packing peanuts before installing haha) The beam is in. I am working on the brakes now. The spring plates are in. There is a rebuilt tranny ready to go. I will be installing that once I am done with the front end. I plan to paint the inside, and do some blending on the outside. It's getting there!

Do you habe a idea how to prevent the patina rust? And how to prevent the underside from rust?
