I’m sure this has already been covered, but I didn’t find anything in these specific questions...
I got the wheel and bumpers pulled off the camp stove cabinet in my SO34 and I’m planning to soak them in glycerine to rejuvenate them. That seems to be the preferred method, so that’s what I’m going with.
Two related questions -
1 - vegetable glycerine was all I could find.. is that right or is there some flavor I missed?
2- I’m planning to soak these for 3-4 days (maybe more if I forget about them or get sidetracked). Any problem with that or is there a maximum time I should let them percolate?
Thanks!

Since those parts are just about as rare as hen teeth...
Would try a small amount of glycerine on one of the bumpers on the base out of sight, and Vasalene on the other for just over night. See if each improves the softness of the rubber and not turn it gummy or start to dissolve those.
Same with the wheel, but would try in in small areas of the outer tread.
Pretty much all glycerine is plant based. So only real choice is if you want scented or non-scented. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

Excellent! All of that sounds reasonable and doable... and pretty much in line with what I expected the right path to be. It's a shame I don't have a spare... or the guts to really test a long-term soak on these... |
