looks to me like the front window glass has had a corner cut off, but straight not curved, like the factory introduced for better airflow.

Here is my bush bashing kombi (circa 1979) with the rear wheel arches cut away to fit very wide paddle tyres for beach use.

The Gorgosaurus was hand painted on both sides by my brother.

It could go anywhere off road. (well it seemed to).

cool bus - only thing, I see no screens on the windows don't mosquitos fly in the open windows, during the night?
One of the best vehicles for off- road that can go anywhere is a Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser

I worked for Mt Newman Mining Company at the time the photo was taken and they used Toyota FJ40's almost exclusively in a number of configurations for the whole minesite.
Here is our crew infront of a crew cab utility.

… great picture - my brother bought a new 1971 FJ40 and sold it to me, in 1999, I kept it till 2015 and sold it to another brother... he is making it all-pretty, by restoring it - I liked it all rusty - had 55,000 original miles on it - both 'a mine were likea' robins-egg blue - still have the front seat belts, from it, in our '62 VW SO33... had crotch-coolers too...

… when we lived in upstate NY, ona private gravel road, in the woods, we had a 1969 TLC with a plow - that thing was un stoppable - AS YOU KNOW -thanks for this wonderful deviation, from VWs - like FJ40s about as much.
