Hi,
I bought a fuel tank reserve switch for the fuel tank
VW 211-209-021E

It doesn't come with a knob? Is this supposed to have a knob or a d-ring threaded through the hole on the shaft to push/pull it?

You can see it on this posting

Buses have a little bracket there that attaches to the pull cable up front.

Aha, thanks for this.

I'm now looking at this post, that shows the cable from the reserve valve up towards the front, but is incomplete. Are there any illustrations of the cable being routed up to the cab lever?

Thanks

Wolfsburg West has the cable you are looking for under there drop down menu under chassis parts,#33 it does not show where it goes very well. The cable is free with no metal tube to travel in. There should be a bracket "light tin" that extends from the tank floor that you can fasten the reserve cable to right next to the valve.

Older post I found where someone added a reverse tap and cable to their '67:

I don't know if it has everything you need but check that out.

Great thanks. Now need to confirm if any valve will fit on a 64 tank or if I need something to make it work. Also looks like I need to add a cable mount.

The tank outlet is the same size.

A '64 would not have the little arm for the cable mount under the tank.

Sounds like I will have a fun adventure. Do you recommend a fuel valve or are they all basically the same? Well other than WW being reversed.

I'm looking in the Factory Shop Manual (not the owners manual)... which shows the cable coming up adjacent to the heater knob at the base of the drivers seat. Apparently there can be two knobs flanking the heater knob, one is for the fuel reserve and the other is for the choke. These appear to be push/pull knobs, similar to the operation of the headlight switch.

To finish my project, I'll need to source or fabricate the knob and the assembly that is underneath the seat floor. Any ideas?

I don't know if there are any reproductions other than the one WW sells.

You could find and rebuild an original too.
The one on my Truck is an original but I found a really clean one to start with.

I added a choke cable to the 65 I used to have when I installed a manual choke carb.

The knob had the same threads as one of the dash knob, which I had a spare of. I suspect that info is in the Parts List. Same cable is used for the reserve tap, so same knob screws onto the threads.
