Awesome. Simply awesome.
I might add a late 60's Jeep Wagoneer with the indian motif trim, preferably green or light blue. Perhaps an old International Scout.
Saw both of those on Nantucket, and they were so SO Nantucket.
All sun faded and beat but still cruisin' the beach.

I’ve had a lot of cars.. well not really but I’ve had many different types of cars I guess.
One I would love to own again is a Triumph TR250.
Basically a transitional car it had the new engine that was supposed to come out in the TR6 but because the TR6 body wasn’t ready Triumph slapped the engine in a TR4A body and sold it as a TR250. In Great Briton it was sold with Fuel Injection instead of dual carburetors (Solex If I recall correctly) and called the TR5. The injected TR5 produced more HP than the TR250 (Forget how much) but was prone to engine fires.
My stock TR250 would blow the doors of any stock MGB, though I did get smoked by a guy that had a V8 in his MGB.
I also had an old body style Chevy Corvair two door convertible. Even with all the oil leaks I would love another one of those.
Other than that I would love to have any of these
Old Mini Cooper
New Mini Cooper
Sunbeam Tiger (mentioned by others)
Triumph GT6+
Triumph TR8.
Heck just about any Triumph Sports car.
Jaguar XK 150 drop head
One of the original BMW M1 with the gull wing doors
Nash Metropolitan (Convertible preferably)
Old Studabaker Pick up
So many cars so little time _________________ 1973, purchased 05/01/2004. Daily driver/project.

I for one think the new Mini is sacrilege to the true mini.
Just as I think the NB is sacrilege to the old sedans. These cars were originally meant to be affordable to the common man. They are now gentrified, old as well as new.
They were fun, affordable, rally hot rod material that anyone could afford. The new Mini and Beetle only look like their namesakes and are not deserving of their names. My opinion. |

If money was no object then it would defenitly be some of the many Porsches through out the years. J_C_Hamilton's list (page 1) looks good for starters. Then it would be off-road cars. Baja bugs and rails. Then on to the classic V8 heavy metal. Who can pick just one? Give me the money and I'll let you know exactly what I get. _________________ Prosit!

Damn...You mean they make cars that aren't VWs?
I'd have to agree with Glenn and say the Porsche 356...other than that I'd go with the Speed 6 that John Travolta was pimpin' in "Swordfish..." I don't have a picture, but I bet somebody on The Samba does!!!!

I value your thoughts, but I have to completely disagree. I think the new Mini is one of the most successful reincarnations of an old car (modernized, obviously) that exists. Granted, it is built by BMW, in England, with parts from everywhere, but the styling is dead on perfect. It maintains the bulldog stance, wheels pushed to the extreme corners, and obscene handling of the originals. I am personally looking to buy a Cooper S when my GTI finally goes. Much as I'd like a new VR6 the quality is just not there anymore. And 22K for an S with 163 HP, 6-speed, and the best handling you will ever experience (unless you happen to have the money for a supercar) isn't too shabby either. Also, just my opinion. _________________ Your car may do 0-60 in under 5 seconds, but can it sleep 4 and cook a meal?

..there are other cars? ..I kid.
Studebaker Avanti, or one of the early Avanti II's.
MBZ Unimog, any variation.
'78-'80 Dodge Colt wagon (call me weird)
.. that car in the Mad Max movies, specifically the Road Warrior-era version. |

I agree with this. I won’t go so far on the New beetle though as I don’t think it has the same feeling as the old. Don’t get me wrong I don’t dislike the new Beetle it’s just that when I see one I don’t think VW I think Audi. Speaking of which I wouldn’t mind having an Audi TT. Not because it’s a great “Sports Car” but because it just looks darn nice. _________________ 1973, purchased 05/01/2004. Daily driver/project.

Dream cars aside, the WRX is truly a do everything vehicle for day to day driving. Four door practicality, turbo motor for plenty of amusment, wicked handling, fun to drive, awd for bad road conditions and Subaru durability (I've seen them well over 200,000 mi. and still kickin'). It may not look like much but it does it all. |
