Then with the wheel fitted I found the wheel hit the chassis, so that got clearanced too. Shocked

I’ve been working on brakes. My first cheap flare tool got returned for hopefully a much better tool. But I’ve had better success with the E brake routing

I made a receiver for the E brake conduit bent end from 3/4” stainless. I opened up the bracket hole to accept the receiver. Then silver soldered it to the original E brake bracket off the new caliper. It will be powder coated.

I bent the bracket to align with the crank arm and the brake conduit slips right in. Very pleased with that Razz

Also, I machined VW in to the hub cap and inlaid acrylic black paint.

This is turning out really impressive with your suspension and pan. When I saw the red springs on the rear suspension in your first photo above- the head-on one, I thought those will be overkill if they are in addition to the original torsion bars. But then I noticed in the side shot that those are the ONLY rear springs, since you removed the torsion bars.

The cold is almost done, so I got back to making things right. The spare tire well was very nasty on the inside, the inner fenders were buckled from a hit, so it all came of behind the front apron.

mostly all done, some grinding and shaping to finish it off.

One the engine side, I'm debating a stand alone engine build or just adding it here? So here's some stuff I got done: built myself a filler tube...

Previous restoration included lots of bondo and incorrect late model rear bumper brackets. And they welded the brackets over gaping holes!
I filled those holes and put the correct bumpers on. I'm waiting on a Acetylene torch kit so I can roll that bottom lip nicely.

Thanks Lemons, doing my best Smile

LH rear Wheelhouse. I trimmed too much away to start with so ended up putting some back on before grafting the new panel in. I didn't like the lack of curvature of the new panel so decided to graft the highly curved original piece back in again. RH side will streamline this procedure! I had to rebuild the lip on the luggage piece.

I got the lower half of the shell blasted this weekend, it turned out very nice.
I'll post shell progress later this week.

Here's my Block and Orratech fan mounted.

For those that are interested in Herr Orminski's products, and he has some very well made parts, head over to Orratech (works well on Chrome as it will convert from German)

For those considering a Porsche fan conversion, or interested in what fans best suit what engines: Porsche fan or not, and if so, which one?

Here's a direct link to the 5 blade fan kit I got: ORRATECH horizontal type 4 blower 5 blades

I fitted new Klassicfab heater channels and German crossmembers.

Then set to on the badly dented front quarter.

I cut the bad section out and straightened it before reattaching it.

The heat coloration is me shrinking the shape to match the other side.

It’s my fist time shrinking and growing a panel to make it happy. It has turned out really well.

Your doing a great job! Those Klassicfab heater channels are great, I did a heater channel on my 66 project and used Klassicfab's and it fit so nice. Made the job a lot easier. Have fun with your bug.

Very happy with the driver side door fit.... I need a new passenger door, or some surgery to the existing one. The lower hinge is barely holding on, the rivets are missing! ...and there is Bondo in their place Shocked
