so, I got this today:

Hello skills@eurocarsplus,

You have received a new private message to your account on "TheSamba.com" and you have requested that you be notified on this event. You can view your new message by clicking on the following link:

https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/privmsg.php?folder=inbox

Remember that you can always choose not to be notified of new messages by changing the appropriate setting in your control panel.

Thanks for visiting the site,

which didn't seem to be any different than any other time I received a P/M. I clicked the link which brought me to my inbox (always has) but there was no new message.

I logged in, logged back out etc and still, no new message showing. any ideas as to why this may happen?

Glitch in the Matrix.

Or the person who sent it, deleted it before you logged in.

Like this...

Let me know if you get a email and there's no PM.

So that explains it...

I sent a PM, waited 30 seconds and then deleted it before you opened it.

If you feel leftout, i'll forward all my H@TE PMs Wink

This.

In addition, sometimes people don't understand that it sits in your "Outbox" until the person reads it.

If you delete it from the Outbox, it's gone and they never get it, even though they got the email notification.
This causes confusion to the recipient

thanks guys

I guess that explains it. I never had it happen in all of my years here.

Glenn, i'd be surprised if you got hate mail. you seem to be a pretty reasonable guy. you can forward it to me if you'd like. i'd probably make the situation much worse though Laughing

you know speaking of hate mail....i'm on some FB vw groups and so many people shit on TS....yet when they need info everyone suggests looking here.

well done Very Happy

If you are new you can't PM people for 1 day to prevent the spammers who join up and try to PM.

I think it stops you before you can even do the PM though so email would go out but now I'm not 100% sure
