Has anyone experienced extremely long processing and or delivery times from VW parts suppliers? I ordered a part through a known supplier on 1-27-20 and I am still waiting for it 6 months later. They however had to get the part from the manufacturer which is based in California. Still waiting and not much communication. |

If your parts are made in China they are most likely sitting in a container in the middle of the Pacific.
Remember that Covid shutdown the factories in China in December. _________________ Glenn

Yeah, but they've been back open for at least a couple months if not longer now.
Four issues I'm aware of:
1. US Customs is a mess and super far behind right now
2. Credit has tightened, so companies have less leeway on inventory, thus they are only stocking the fastest moving merchandise to turn around cash. Same thing happened in 2008.
3. Lots of online parts vendors are dropshippers and are being plagued with unexpected out- of- stocks due to 1 and 2 at their warehouse supplier level, and
4. The USPS as well as FedEx and UPS is WAY behind. USPS service and timeliness especially just fell off a cliff about 2-3 weeks ago due to overtime cuts- exacerbated by carriers being out sick- and they are actually being DIRECTED to leave parcels behind if delivering them will result in overtime.
It's a bad situation all around right now. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

With the USPS that is only true with bulk rate mail and standard parcel post. By Federal law, the USPS can not delay Overnight Express, Priority Mail, or 1st Class Mail for any reason.
UPS, FedEx, and all the rest, do not have any Federal regulations on when their packages must be delivered. _________________ 2017 Street Comp Champion - Thunder Valley Raceway Park - Noble, OK

Well, then, I'd like to know why Priority packages have been regularly taking up to two weeks. According to USPS' site, it's only Priority EXPRESS that's not affected. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

It is the disruption in the commercial airline industry. The USPS by law can not own airplanes, so if a commercial flight isn't available the USPS must reroute it across the USA by truck. Both UPS and FedEx own their own aircraft. _________________ 2017 Street Comp Champion - Thunder Valley Raceway Park - Noble, OK

I've shipped over 100 distributors since March and use USPS Priority/. Everyone has been delivered in 2 days. Also most of the ones sent to me come USPS and all were on time.
My postperson knows I keep a cold bottle of water in the fridge for them, they just need to ring the doorbell if they need it. _________________ Glenn

I have been waiting a year for IRS to correct my 2017 taxes after my employer made a mistake on my 2017 W2. The IRS has had the corrected W2 from my former employer for 5 months now. I even got a certified letter from IRS threatening a lien. The amount involved is $3700, so not chump change.
I caught the employer's mistake in early 2018; Benefits department said must be corrected by Payroll, but was unable then to get anyone to do this. By the way: I caught this mistake in spite of never having a single minute of accounting, financial, or business training. _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. All as normal here but I have not ordered anything that did not say "in stock" on the vender's web site. Our postal service has not experienced much delay at all in spite of putting through record volumes of parcels. Sites like Amazon however are another story, I have heard of 3 month delays there in processing and filling orders. |

That's actually likely a valid point, but I have been noticing this more in the last three weeks than when nobody was flying. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

I haven't bought anything from any VW companies recently.
Buying and selling to private people or small companies through USPS - I have not noticed any delays at all.
I haven't gotten any mail to my house for a few days though, that is weird as we usually get junk mail every single day.
This may be because of the overtime restrictions.
I probably posted this before but:
I'm convinced our house is the "2nd route" for the mail people as our mail has always come late, like 6PM. _________________ How to Post Photos

I had a conversation with my mail carrier and he drops off packages in the morning since he passes my house anyway on the way to his first stop. The rest of the mail arrives about 1:00pm.

I guess that would work if we had the same person all the time.
This may add credence to my theory. _________________ How to Post Photos

Ask the postmaster.
Yes, my carrier is pretty consistent.
I also have "informed delivery" and get a email everyday at 8:00am with scans of all the mail and tracking numbers of boxes being delivered. It's a free service from the post office. _________________ Glenn

Some posts were removed.
Let's not get into a political discussion please but I'll leave the link above as it explains that some changes were made that could affect post office delivery times.
If you don't want to read the political portions of the article, I pasted in the relevant text I found below:
Quote: |
the service has stopped paying mail carriers and clerks the overtime necessary to ensure that deliveries can be completed each day. That and other changes have led to reports of letters and packages being delayed by as many as several days. |
Quote: |
Louis DeJoy, the postmaster general, defended the changes, saying in a statement that the ban on overtime was intended to “improve operational efficiency” and to “ensure that we meet our service standards.” |
Quote: |
“Overtime will be eliminated,” says the document, which was first reported by The Washington Post. “Again, we are paying too much overtime, and it is not cost effective and will soon be taken off the table. More to come on this.”
The document continues: “The U.S.P.S. will no longer use excessive cost to get the basic job done. If the plants run late, they will keep the mail for the next day.” |
Quote: |
Another document, dated July 10, says, “One aspect of these changes that may be difficult for employees is that — temporarily — we may see mail left behind or on the workroom floor or docks.”
With the agency under financial pressure, some offices have also begun to cut back on hours. The result, according to postal workers, members of Congress and major post office customers, is a noticeable slowdown in delivery. |

What's slowing the mail is Amazon. They have agrements wirhnthe USPS that gives them priority over the rest of the mail. Our mail carrier delivers Amazon all hours of the day and on Sat and Sun. No regular mail on Sunday. |
