my Google-Foo is failing me....
what is the part number for the Dometic RM182B jet that is threaded on both ends? not the one with threads only on one end.
also. i'm confused on orifice size on these... what i'm reading is that #24 is the correct jet. it is my understanding this number refers to drill bit size and reading the "Propane Orifice Chart" from John Zink Company, a 24 = 0.1520"
here's where it gets odd... had my fridge out for service and cleaned the jet ultrasonically and then when that didn't yield the flame ht desired, i ran a propane jet cleaner thru, Model G03020. this is a cleaner that is 0.0135" diameter and it was tight, in fact i removed a bit of brass with it. there is no way that orifice is 0.1520". NO WAY. i mic'd my cleaner and it is indeed 0.0135"
so now, my fridge flame is good, perhaps even a bit high, but it cools wonderfully. maintains 45F interior when ambient is 85F with the temp control at 9:00 and the burner is cycling between high and low. it gets even colder fully clockwise. prior to the reaming, i had a very quiet flame with poor thermal performance. now it is the classic rumble when listening at the vent. _________________ -dan

If need be, adapt a one end threaded jet?
I'm sure you saw this but here's threaded one end burner:

Yeah the hole in the burner jet is super tiny. Like a wire strand of fine stranded wire tiny.
If memory serves, there may even have been a burner jet with a different size orifice. For higher altitude use? Anyhow...
I don't see any reference to part numbers in my Dometic service manual.

The pilot light won't light. The jet is clogged and I tried to poke it with a needle but no luck.
My instructions were to remove the jet and soak it in lacquer thinner but to do this I must separate the pilot gas tube. How is this to be done without damaging the tube ? |

that's the thermocouple, not the gas jet! _________________ -dan

Where did you poke the needle?
I don’t think it is advised to poke anything through the jet, regardless. |

this is good advice. i used a tapered, triangular pilot jet reamer to open up the narrowed down jet and widened it too much. very large flame on fridge resulted!
clean it in an ultrasonic cleaner, lacquer thinner, isopropyl, etc. and give it time to soften the 40 year old propane residue. like days. _________________ -dan

What was I thinking?!
This is the jet. But it doesn't look like a pilot jet.

it's fine. but i'm curious if you googled something and got an incorrect AI feed. bigger appliances like water heaters, etc have a separate pilot gas line and a main burner line.
this fridge has one line, serves as both 'pilot' which is actually the low flame setting, and 'on', which is a little bigger flame. same gas line. _________________ -dan

No, the jet is a small brass piece inside the fire box. It’s inside of the flame tube. |
