I don't know but are you sure this is a negative ground tach that will work in your VW?
I'm wondering if it's positive ground since the tachs I have seen have a "1" to connect to the coil instead of a 15 but terminal 15 is the other post on the coil.
I'm wondering if positive ground tachs connect to terminal 15 instead because the coil connections to the distributor are reversed on a positive ground car too?
-12 could be 12v power for a negative ground car
-6 for 6v
+ for the positive ground
15 for the coil _________________ How to Post Photos

Hello,
I have a VDO tachometer identical to yours. N.O.S, but there was no manual. I found a wiring on the net.
could you plug in yours?
greetings from Normandy

It could be its reading the dip of voltage on terminal 15 when the points close as the rpm signal.
Pure speculation on my part. _________________ .ssS! |
