I was told that this Bus had never been registered or driven on the streets in it's sixty three year life span. It has been used to transport (pun intended) dignitaries around the expansive warehouse. The top was chopped at some point for better viewing and there are no belly pans installed. I highly doubt that this Bus has been in third or fourth gear much. I will not be able to return to take further pictures but here's what I did get.

There are a couple of mysteries here:
1) What secret do apparent licence plates hold if never registered, and;
2) What confidential company affiliation is under the obscured portion of the images.

The Bus is currently registered. I was asked not to reveal the identity or the whereabouts as they don't want to be hassled since the bus is not for sale. The manila envelope in the parcel tray presumably contains the owners manual, title and a few other documents.
I liked the dove blue interior trim color of the building. The bus original color looked like it might have been grey based on the engine compartment and interior side of the headlight buckets.
The brown interior panels look to be original but the seats have definately been recovered. The rear seat backrest does have the rarely seen trim strip in place. The middle seat grab bars were discarded but the seats are original flat back. _________________ Roads Scholar &

Interesting if the mileage is original.
It's a Standard?
The front door panel and kick panels are 55-58 Deluxe colors
Black seats originally would be a Kombi
It seems like a weird mismatch of parts from what you described and photographed
Any old photos of it before the roof was cut off? _________________ How to Post Photos

I ASSumed it was a standard based upon not having a clock in the dash.
I didn't pay much attention to the swage line while I was there but looking at the pics I agree and wish I'd paid closer attention to that detail.
The paint work wasn't top quality based on the tail light seals being painted over. _________________ Roads Scholar &

Strange that with that low of mileage motor that it would have the wrong oil bath air cleaner. _________________ Oil Capital Air Cooled

The speedo seems sun exposed ( faded) for a 7797 mile Bus. _________________ 1959 Model M1: 118

the speedometer pic is at an odd angle. I reached in over the door to take it. It's not sun faded at all. How is the air filter not correct? Ah, perhaps you're seeing it as a bastard 40 horse version? _________________ Roads Scholar &

Yeah, the 36hp air cleaner doesn't have clips. It has a single threaded center post. That's a 40hp air cleaner for sure. _________________ Oil Capital Air Cooled

Could be an added strip of off the shelf aluminum 1/2 round trim added when the conversion was done for some bling, maybe it got painted over during the last refresh or change of corporate colors?
The seats may have had a refresh or two as well. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Is it grey or postal yellow in the engine compartment?
Those color interior panels are normal for special paint buses in that era. Probably the same for primer delivered standard microbuses as well. _________________ .

Don't recall the paint color of the engine bay. Going off the interior of the headlight bucket then comparing to poorly lighted engine bay. I had between 5-10 minutes to view the bus my friend who retired from the company recently was a tad nervous about hanging around the Bus so it wasn't a comfortable photo shoot. I brought my own church key to speed the process some! I've known about the existence of the Bus for several years. _________________ Roads Scholar &
