|
|
greetings
I have come upon a clockspring to replace my 2001 spring that I mangled upon
replacing my heater core.
I have seen on here about reprogramming the spring with VAG-Com which
I have.
can I just put said spring in and all the lights will go out
ABS, Brakes, airbag, round thing with triangle
Thanks

First, make sure the spring is in the correct orientation before you install it. If it's 180 degrees off, when you turn the wheel you'll break it.
You MAY need to recalibrate the steering angle sensor, which is a slightly harrowing procedure that you'll need a big parking lot with lots of space to do.
It's in the VCDS section for steering. If you can't find it, let me know and I'll look for the specific area. |

So how does one make sure there are not 180 degrees off? _________________ 2001 eurovn weekender 207k fresh batteries |

The way I did it with mine was to slowly turn it by hand and count the full rotation cycle.
I forget how many turns it is, but if you start all the way left and then carefully rotate it to the right you can count the turns. Then divide by half.
If it's 5 full rotations left to right, then center should be 2.5 turns. |

Thanksl
I got the clock spring in with the correct spins each way
upon re-hooking up everything and starting the bus
I get the same warning lights
I am not able to access the steering module
below are the errors I get from VAg-Com

That G46 error code looks like it means you need to replace that wheel speed sensor. You'll need to do that before you calibrate the steering angle sensor anyway.
Once you do that, you can trigger the steering calibration - it's in the ABS module, and not the steering module. My memory was fuzzy from when I did it a few years ago.
This video actually looks like it has a solid walkthrough of the coding and adaptation procedure:

Wondering if anyone has a trick for overcoming a 'NOT OK' on the calibration screen?
I've replaced a failed clock spring (G85 steering angle sensor), the new one is now registering values, and 0deg is aligned with straight, but I can't get thru the coding+calibration and then lose the soft coding.
I successfully get the ABS module update for soft coding, but every time I go to calibrate (after logging in as 40168) I get the status 'NOT OK'. I've tried following the Bentley instructions that include a short/slow/straight test drive and also the Ross-tech steps.
I've also tried various methods of clearing the error code prior/during coding/calibration.
here are the error codes:

Hey @gtvbrendan, wondering if you ever sorted out the Not OK in the calibration screen for your EV? |
