When the old bug is cold it is misfiring. Real lack of power until it’s warmed up then it’s absolutely fine. Cold being 9 degrees celcius. Before I throw money at ignition parts what would you check first. Going to check timing and carb adjustment tomorrow and will update this

Check your choke adjustment. It should be fully open hot, and just closed cold. Not jammed closed. When the engine is fully hot, adjust the choke to stand open vertically. Then check fully cold. It should be closed.

If you feel it's coming off choke too fast, you can move it a notch nor two. If it's opening to slow, move it the other way. There is a little scale on the side of the carb or one the choke housing.
