Two buses, two dudes, some swimming holes, and a good time.

blue skies - don't anyone believe that is California. They stole a welcome sign and took it to another state where there aren't forest fires. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |

Killer! I recognized some of the spots. We need more trip videos on this site. Looks like Brians bus is ready for Baja with the jacked up rear end.
Looks like a great time!

Thanks for posting and proving that a maintained VW can go anywhere.
Having owned buses for nearly 30 years, this sure brings back memories. Countless Baja surf trips (including once with all 4 wheels off the ground, fully loaded, with 7 surfboards on the rack) and exploring Highway 1 in CA and NEVER anything worse than a generator gone bad, broken throttle or clutch cable, fan belt or fuel pump.
Now I'm one of the old fu**s in the RV park that got the finger!

Funny what happens when you have an engine that's maintained. You just lay a foot on the accelerator and go places.

That RV park was so lame, they gave us so much BS for not fitting in with their other patrons. _________________ Wash your hands

Nice. Are those GM seatbelts in your bus Robbie? They look pretty good. |
Thanks! Pomona Swap Meet, ask for “the seatbelt guy.”

The only time I touched my tool box was to crimp the cheap-o Amazon solar panel plugs tighter, and Brian either leaned out his idle or bumped his timing for daily use up at 6k feet... Day two or three Brian fixed his LR taillight with a wiggle, and between the two of us, about a quart and a half of oil was added over 2,800 miles.
I really do like seeing these trip reports from people, and the videos are surprisingly fun to make if one remembers to take little 5-10 second clips a couple times a day.
See you on the road!

Thanks y’all
It felt silly to be the classic millennial hanging his GoPro out the window a few times, but I think it was worth it. Lots of empty roads when the skies were clear back in July.

I was driving home on the 15 northbound between Poway and Escondido when I saw this. Im driving a 4 door Acura mind you. I get along side as Im snapping off a few and I get a casual glance, smile & yeah you think Im cute look.
So I set the phone down, start pacing him, looking at him, waving, nada.
I pull a bit a head and wave out the sunroof. Finally looks again. Im doing the whole look at me, look at you thing with my fingers to my eyes thing.......
Before I crash, he realizes its me and not some nut swinging, star struck bus loving goober.
Good to see you kid.
