I have used this method for carb set up in the past, and with a vacuum gauge it's simple, but my current dells don't have a vacuum advance nipple on either. I wanted to check the setting of the throttle plates. Is there a simple alternative method out there?

Now you have to set the throttle plates to a good position so as not to uncover the progression holes. If you have a vacuum plug for the SVDA port on the carburetor, remove it and connect a hose and listen. Or connect a vacuum gauge.

Tighten the idle speed adjusting screw (idle speed increases) until you read a reading on the vacuum gauge (or until you hear a suction sound at the end of the hose). Now loosen until the vacuum disappears.

Synchronize the second carburetor.

Are they installed already? If not, set the butterflies so that the bottom of the lowest progression hole is just barely exposed. Check that they are all showing, ie. you don't have a bent throttle shaft.

Borrowed this image from the gallery so you can get an idea, look at the hole on the left.

Another one, i think this one is a bit too far open

They are on, and running, I just wanted to check everything over on my settings

I suppose I could pull the plug covering the progression holes and check that way.

That is the best way-may need a lighted mirror to make viewing easier. I bought a Husky brand tool like this at Home Depot that has come in handy.
