Maybe some of you heard my son and our dog were sleeping in his bus when a large tree fell on it last week. They were unhurt but his bus is in limbo. I'm trying to source the roof, rear hatch and upper vent corners as a set. What I'd like to know is whether all 68-79 sunroofs will fit, or is it an earlybay thing for just the roof part.

Meanwhile in this case I heard that 68-73 are the best years to look for. Not exactly sure what years the vents changed. Asking for some confirmation. Also interested in bus auto body specialists around Portland/Seattle that can handle this job. This bus still runs great. Thanks.

Probably
1968
1969
1970 - 1971
1973 to 1979

Might want to put a line on the frame but my guess would be it is deformed too. You may just want to buy a bus that is a shell and restore that, moving everything else over. Really glad everyone is Ok.

Hello, Yes, I saw that wind damage...
You will need a 71 and earlier roof clip. 72 and up= no good, different air vents.
The only thing that is different on pre 72 buses is the inner panel at the back(curved), rivet vs tack welded. And, try to get a 71 and earlier cargo/deck lid. I think the bolting pattern changed on the hinges and lid after 1971 or maybe it was in 72 models.
At least, the bay is the easier to repair of the two vehicles...
Oh, and Chris Morris? in the SF bay area is always parting out buses. May be a good source for your needs. Yet, a bit of a travel for you.
I hope it all works out for you.
