The wiper for my neutral safety switch if moving around a lot in its mounting hole, is there a suitable way to tighten it up in the hole that will extend its life? If needed is it typically okay just to replace the wiper or should I spring for a whole new switch.

Any secrets on getting the wiper out of its hole without damaging it. Seems pretty hard to get at.

The rig is a '91.

Without removing the dash, the wiper assembly would be impossible to remove and access.

Talking about the wiper part of the neutral safety switch, not the windshield wipers

I tried to do the spring swap on mine and once I got it out to try it fell apart. New would probably be easier and less aggravation.

I just bought the two parts in a kit from Van Cafe a few weeks ago. Mine was a '91 and I tried to get the old one to work by fiddling with it. The new one takes about 10 minutes to install and it works a treat, to quote Ed China. I got a nice cookie in the package too. All this stuff that is original is 30+ years old now.
