This is my first post in the Ghia section, heck this is my first KG I have ever even owned off driven for that matter. I have had numerous bugs and a 64 bus but have got the itch for something different. Since I am in Washington state for the better part of a year and a half and all my other cars are back in SoCal I was itching to drive an air cooled car again and I have always admired the flowing lines of Ghias.
I managed to pick this one up for 3k...running and driving quite well. It starts and stops decent but the clutch play, brakes, and fuel delivery are in need of a lite TLC. Its perfect for my situation up here.

The plan for the next year is to tweak the mechanicals, preserve the rust that is on there, and essentially make the car safe to cruise anywhere I want to. It will get a full resto a few years down the road. This car appears to have been through a few "restorations" in the past.

Here is a link to my previous resto job:

But there are things I feel could have been better, always a process of improvement.

Here it is the day I brought it back.

There are numerous bubbles in the paint, some I imagine are from previous body work. The inner fender wells seem to be in decent shape.

Nice purchase. Looks like a late dash pad, dash trim holes filled, bunch of little stuff. Nice to buy a driver, Enjoy it!

Best to get on that rust ASAP especially in that environment.
Ghias are more prone to rust than buses even because of the double walled construction and many hollow panels.
Best of luck with it.
