I’m back with more questions.
1. What tins do I remove to reattach the preheating hose on my ‘66 Bug with a 1600 cc engine. See pic of what I need to get to.
2. Check out my baggage strap. Looks like it’s broken off. What do I have here and if it’s complete, how does it attach?
Thanks in advance! 👍 |

I can only answer #1
Do you mean both pieces?
The little rectangular tin should slip in there and then you screw it on from the top side.
The pre-heat tube goes over the exhaust and under the exhaust nut.
If your engine is complete right now, remove the lower exhaust mounting nut, slip the tube on, then re-install the nut.
Not the most perfect pic of the nut but

I'll answer the 2nd question with a question. What do you do when your belt in your pants breaks? answer; buy another one.
Buy a new replacement rear seat retaining strap. |

I think there was a thread about how to attach a new strap. It's not self-evident at first look, so it's worth searching the forum for the answer, maybe with photos. |

Here's some pics that I had in my gallery of that strap from my 69.
I've played around with the buckle, so I'm not sure if it is oriented correctly.
I believe the strap is screwed to the metal seat back frame at the top of the seat back. I would go out and check, but it's -15 C right now!

Not sure what the change is, but starting in 1965 and ending in 1977-8 the strap is different. |

You are saying that you are going to install the piece shown? remove the rear tin aka breast plate. |
