Do ensure when they're finally fitted that the drain holes on each point vertically down... _________________ Jim Crowther

Dave, I have a genuine Espar muffler, much better metal etc than the CDH version, installed. It is coupled with a silicone exhaust hose which decouples a lot of harmonic noise. The heater exhaust thru a Teflon sleeve and a 90⁰ bend. Very quite. IMHO it should be standard. BTW the muffler is mounted via Teflon bushings. Looks very German/factory.
As you well know I prefer once and done! _________________ Schau in das Buch |

If you watch the video that Sodo posted earlier, the author of the video mentions that the mufflers should always be installed so that they are vertical with the drain hole at the bottom of each muffler. Your picture shows the two drain holes pointing in opposite directions with neither of them vertical. |

Yes, Yes, Yes, I know.
I want them horizontal for max clearance.
The very short pipe minimizes back pressure,
and muffles the 'jet exhaust' sound very well.
They are supposedly stainless.
'Chineeze stainless' ha ha.
Every time I crank the heater up, any moisture will
be driven out. I doubt they will 'rust' from the inside out.
I live in a dry state. Our vehicles simply don't rust.
Plain steel mufflers don't corrode in this environment.
If these mufflers last five years, I am happy.
If my cheapo CDH is still kickin in 5 years, I'll be surprised.
There will be better solutions in a few years. or not.
Do yours whistle as you drive with the drain holes pointing down??? _________________ 1990 Westy Full Camper |
