Need to order tins and an oil cooler for the type 3 U501 block that I got in the mystery engine deal.
Since it’s going in a type 1 and I don’t want to strip my stock motor of it’s tins and oil cooler what will work? I’m still confused on what a doghouse cooler and shroud works on this or that,

Going to be running headers, no heater boxes so need whatever is used in the sleds and lower portion.

Who has the best fitting stuff or do I piece together oem stuff?
I heard Awesome powder coating has good fitting tins

You still need the sled tins, absolutely, even if running a header and j-tubes You will also need the "industrial" tins to block off the openings to the side. The air exits the cylinders and heads and needs to be directed rearwards, this is more important in a full bodied car like a beetle. On a buggy or rail that is at slow speed and has a constant unrestricted supply of air around the engine it's less important and exhaust restrictions make you need to compromise.

Best option if you need everything all at once in the color of your choice is probably Awesome Powdercoat. You can also place things together for less from other vendors and stick to the colors/paint they come in, or refinish them yourself.

Stock OEM tin is best, but if the stuff you find isn't perfect you'll spend about the same amount of time cleaning up the old stuff as it would to make the new stuff fit properly. Depends on what all you are willing to do and how much you intend to spend.
