So I'm getting bumpers ready for my car that will be done soon. The outside looks like it would clean up pretty nice. But the backside ... oy. Sad

It's chrome but it doesn't look like high quality work. Has anyone experimented with the chrome-colored powder-coating?

I've used a wire wheel, then good rust-preventive spray paint, to clean up insides as bad or worse than those.

Never tried the powder coating, though.

Cool!

I may get some deep-disk wheels made for the rear that will need something like that.

I masked off my outside chrome and blasted the inside of the bumpers.
Then did body/paint.

ISP did a decent straighten/re-chrome job on mine FWIW.
Didn't take too long or cost too much.
It's not a super 100% show chrome job,
But it's good enough that 99% of anyone looking wouldn't see anything wrong.

I did that too (used duct tape) on my T-34 bumpers that I got from Greg. I sand blasted the back side, then epoxy primed them, followed by some silver paint. I mainly wanted to save what I could of them. Pics of them can be found in my Samba gallery. For my Notch, I plan on eventually going with some stainless steel bumpers (shouldn't rust then).

I have some stainless ones for my type-1 KG. They look nice though I haven't mounted them yet. From that company in Viet Nam

Eastwoods almost chrome powder, and with the gloss clear added, its okay, but definitely not chrome. The raw chrome powder will not stand up to outdoor exposure for long, before it tarnishes
