Had the EVC luggage rack brackets replaced with the GW stainless steel brackets. Took the mechanic 2 days to complete the job.

Called my mechanic to ask if I’ll ever get my van. It’s been there three weeks. Had it towed straight right to them from where I bought it. Chains were done in the first week. It’s been two weeks of “finding a small pop and vacuum leak”. About to just take it out of there and start hunting for them myself.

Parts are piling up at the house to install (swivel seat, awning, etc....)

I made a few covers out of pine for under the seat of my MV and attached with velcro. I didn't have any paint or stain to match so used a lighter grey for now.

Thanks for the link! I would be very interested in a write up on that if you have a chance.

I used THESE.

I also had to rewire the light housing to bypass the ballast. If you like, I can make a write-up for that.

I have been pleased with them so far. I wonder if they will last as long as the original tubes which were made in Japan. Some reviews were stating that the bulbs burned out prematurely. Anyway, I wanted to try them out. Hope this helps.

Door wiring harness fun. Driver door power lock didn’t work and didn’t send signal to sliding door. Only passenger door worked with key fob. Power mirror would only move at a single diagonal axis as well. No straight up/down or straight left/right. Pulled the whole harness. 5-6 wires completely broke. And the rest very cracked and worn. Cut out a section of each one and splice in new slightly longer wires so everything running through the boot is fresh wire abs splices are in door and cab. All features working again.

My other passion/hobby is pinball machines. I restore them and run a place with 50 of them. Repairing old destroyed wiring isn’t new to me at all 😂

I just installed a swivel seat adapter for the passenger's seat. Pretty easy installation even though no instructions were included.

I added the Weekender factory rear screen to my MV. I bought the snaps from GoWesty. Not a perfect fit because of the rear AC but it will do. The hatch opens and closes with no problems.

Just to clarify, I did not buy the screen from GoWesty, just the snaps. I had an old screen from a weekender. The MV does not have snaps and is configured a little differently. So it’s not a perfect fit but it’s not bad.

Today I installed new LED headlights in my 2003 Weekender. What a difference they make!
https://www.amazon.com/BEAMTECH-Headlight-8000Lumens-Extremely-Conversion/dp/B06XHD78DQ
They were very simple to install, it just took a bit of work and patience to get the spring clips up and over the heat sink on the back of the light. I was pleasantly surprised that the new bulb, plug and wires easily fit inside the plastic dust cap. I did not experience any static interference with the radio reception, but the fog lights did not work. I’ll have to diagnose what is going on with them.

Last week I removed the OEM cassette radio head unit and installed an Alpine CDE-172BT CD receiver with a SiriusXM add-on. It too was fairly easy. As shown elsewhere on TheSamba, I drilled a 1/2 inch hole and placed the BT microphone in vacant switch cover next to the radio. It took me about 3 hours to complete the job, most of which was involved with drilling the hole for the BT microphone, and running the SiriusXM antenna over to the passenger side dash. SiriusXM seems to work fine with the antenna sitting inside up on the dash, so I’m going to leave it there rather than run it out the back of the van to the roof. The OEM speakers sound pretty good now, and I’ll wait to see if I need to change them out, too.

Making a screen up with snaps is really trivial.

Someone has already butchered that door wiring, streamr

Very clear it was previously worn and then half ass “repaired” and just created more problems than it fixed. Those butt connectors in the door boot must of failed almost instantly the first time to try to bend the door shut. Amazing the amount of problems that the van had because if that. Stuff that had nothing to do with door electronics.

Abscate - that's a ton of snow!

I had the lighting specialist install custom Bi-Xenon projectors into my headlights. They turned out excellent!
