Hi all, I will try to be brief. Back in 2002 i was maybe 6 months into a sales job and had moved into my then GF condo. Was paying storage for my old 21 window bus. Came across a flier in a supermarket for a 1960 convertible. Called and went to look at and it was in all primer. I passed on it for $3500 because i had no storage. yeah stupid. Anyway flash fwd and i find this here on TS and it isnt far from me. Went to look at it and hemmed and hawed. Slept on it and made an offer. A week later and Schatze(named by the prior owners) is home. Was an original Florida car that made its way to NJ. Nice woman i bought it from owned from 2003. Her Husband was working on it and got sick and eventually passed. Now she is moving so posted it for sale. Anyway, got it home. Interior looks original and mostly complete. Outside has bondo and passenger front fender is shaky. Floors look good and engine in it looks like a brand new rebuild though i think the original engine is still at her place which i will eventual get. ok so heres the pics-enough of my blabber. Feel free to chime in as i will need all the help in the world

Wow, what a nice straight Cabriolet. I can see great things coming for this car. Amazing to think that cars like this are hidden away after 60 years! It looks so well preserved. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

That interior will clean up nicely! Do you think the exterior Paprika is original paint? Congratulations - we have friends with a beautiful Paprika '60 cab. Nice to see another get saved.

| That's a nice looking survivor! and the dash looks great. I hope it comes with the door handles and the 60 only trim for the door window scrapers. |

Thank you Loren! I have interior and exterior door handles though yet to see if key works the exterior ones. I have tons of metal trim but not sure what they are yet. Tomorrow a Nor'Easter is gonna whip through here and since the garage is tight i wont be checking any time soon til it dries out and warms up. The only thing i have not seen is the 2 front grills for the nose. |
The scrapers are not the problem, it’s finding the right rubber that’s a nightmare.
Do you have the jewel in the 60 crown, the elusive 60 only washer bottle?

Hope you can make active progress on it and get it finished and driveable. Would really enjoy seeing it up close at an upcoming "Aircooled Gathering" in Flanders, NJ. As others have mentioned, you have a bonus of many original parts.
