I have a set of new front brake shoes that I ordered from Wolfsburg West a while ago. The box is stickered 211609237B. Their website says for that number:

"211609237B BRAKE SHOES, front, set of 4, 1955 (1955 Bus, starting at chassis # 20-117903) -1963 Bus, new, no core charge "

I recall unboxing them when I was going over my '56 SC chassis last year and thinking "well these are wrong". They are 2" wide. IIRC, WAY wider than what is correct for that era. Before I contact WW, can someone confirm for me that they are not correct???

As with Oval era Beetles, I think the correct ones are like 1-3/8" or so wide.

TIA

This is absolutely no help whatsoever but bumping you up might help. I measured a set of rears for 1-ton and they are 1 3/4" +.

2” sounds about right. Can you pull your drum off and measure your bus?

I measued an old set off my 59 and the shoe table steel is 1.97". The spec for a late front shows 2.170" width for the steel.

Ok, thanks all. I guess I didn't really compare them when I pulled to drums in 2019 to clean them up. I vaguely remember finding some shoes with a lot of lining left, and just solvent cleaning everything and putting it back. Thanks again....
