Hi folks.

Did any of the 1.9 WBX 2wd single cab Vanagons come from the factory with an automatic transmission?

edit: in other words, is a single cab with an automatic relatively rare?

Thanks

Neil.

I have never seen one, and out of the 6 'prospekte' for the truck models that I have, only one makes reference to an optional auto transmission and that is specifically for the sinka, not the doka : https://hans-wibo.asuscomm.com/index.php/s/dY8dcsed3SoCam3

I'm an observer in these parts but...
Quote:

refers to Double cab and
Quote:

refers to single cab i.e. this refers to two different body styles. I have no idea if this relevant.

Buy it regardless.

This Doka was recently listed on bringatrailer. It appears to be a factory auto.

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1998-volkswagen-vanagon-tristar-crew-cab/

It is a late model 2.1 liter. Yes, I think any doka or sinka auto is rare.

I'd thought to put "Sinka' in subject but then I'd thought Doka referred to single and double cab Vanagons. i.e. that Sinka was sort of a samba generated term. Haven't heard back from seller.

termuehlen: interesting that the Doka you linked to is located in BC. The one I inquired about is in Vancouver BC. It's a project van so I had to wonder if the drivetrain was original. Here's the ad:

WiboBusMan: I didn't download that pdf but thats interesting. Thanks for searching that up.

Here's a rather used Doka auto:

I have at least seen multiple auto transporters in truck variety's, I suspect they were factory delivered with Auto's, I also suspect Canada got more automatic work vehicles than Europe or the rest of the world. there is evidence that Canada got its own special flavor and options on vans I have noticed it is common for Canadian transporters to have pivoting vent windows that most of the European market have stationary vent windows.

Truck appears to have (a) pivoting vent windows. Seats, front + most of side glass are missing, possibly head liner as well.

It's intriguing but title is shown as "missing" so......

Apologies. Ad shows "truck" as "automatic", no images of interior so I assumed it was an auto. Not so:

that's a manual transmission in there.
you can see the top of the bellhousing, it's aluminum, auto's are cast iron, also no dipstick tube.
