|

Seen a lot of various dash pads or covers out there and researched some in the forums. I have "heard" a lot about certain ones not being wide enough with that have huge gaps between them and the windshield pillars...though not sure which make or manufacture that is.
Has anybody tried the "Glass Action" fiberglass one? How is the fit and finish. How are the gaps at the pillars. This would be going on a 66 vert.
Would love to hear testimonials and see any pics of yours you may have.
Thanks

If you are interested, original dash pad covers fit like a glove:

I have one. Wrapped it in faux leather. They are not the best fit, has issues here and there. But much better looking than original IMO. Still have yet to screw the sides into the A pillar to keep it in place, still trying to figure out how to adhere it to the dash (temporarily).

You might consider using 'Velcro' patches on dash & cap for attaching in middle areas.

Good idea Didget69, I will try that. I have some industrial grade Velcro here at work... Dang near impossible to separate once together. _________________ My 70 beetle was totaled Now to build the Ghia I always wanted. Rest in peace Ruby, I will miss you. Hello <insert Ghia name here>! |

Trylon is this one available? Would that fit a 66? I may be interested if that is for sale!
Thanks for pics to the others as well.

Trylons cover is for 68 or 69 and up, integral grab handle, very wrong for a 66.
I took the glass action cover to my local upholstery shop. Had them cover it and use a French stitch across the front. |
Not to concerned with correctness at the moment..but will the 68-69 fit?
I am ok with the glass action but I have stock radio and speaker and kinda pondering how to deal with that then.
Also how much did they charge you for the french stitch covering at that shop? |

Somehow I have not gotten emails about updates to this thread. If you are interested, the dash pad is for sale. _________________ 1973 Porsche 914 2.0

Thanks for the pics. I’ll probably go the same route along with using epoxy to attach threaded studs in stock locations under the cap to secure it down instead of the self tapping screw method . And if the cap isn’t up to par in length I may consider modifying it with some corner tweeter pod fabrication. |
