Just wondering, are all of the OG style ‘73 Thing exhaust systems I see on various sites the same? I see them being sold with a bit of a difference in price so do I just go for the cheapest I find? Thanks.

I have the ceramic coated Tri-Mill on mine, it's not stock and it's certainly not the cheapest, but I like it so far. If that helps at all.

I've spent a lot of time getting stock style exhaust systems to fit on my Bus. I've moved on to more custom designs and never looked back.

I'm running one from Thing Parts. I believe it is a Dansk or a Dansk type repop. I had the guy working on the Thing blast it and then hit it with a high temp paint similar to stock grey ish. I had a noisy sucker on there before and hated it so this is perfect

Okay, that pic from Obus reminds me that the '73 came with duals and it points out how useless my previous comment really was.
Mine came with a Beetle muffler which I replaced with the Tri-Mill with a single muffler. I doubt that the dual system would have the fitment issues that I mentioned earlier.

I wonder how many different manufacturers there could actually be for those and I bet that an email to both TTS and Thing Parts would reveal the same manufacturer.

Thanks for the replies. The one in obus’ picture is what I am interested in. JBugs had them on sale, and I was able to get an extra % off if I spent over $500. I was concerned that they may be of lower quality, but like you said, I would imagine there is only one manufacturer (Dansk I believe) so I went ahead and ordered them. I wound up getting the complete exhaust and a set of Dansk floorpans with shipping for under $800. The exhaust alone sells for $429 on thingparts.com so I’m happy with the purchase. When I get them I’ll post if they are another brand.

The difference is we give you all the CORRECT hardware
And also include special hard to find tail pipe clamp
Its all included in the price
the other guys dont know the correct hardware, is not included and they dont have the correct clamps either
Now $414.99

here are the correct clamps ($25 value) included with muffler system
