-- SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO READ THE THREAD, HERE IS THE DIRECT LINK TO A TEMPLATE YOU CAN MAKE FOR CORRECT REAR FENDER OVERRIDER HOLES: --
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/manuals/techbulletins/a7/9_55_page4.jpg
In advance I did search found the post with the diagram of the rear fender with all the lines and measurements....however the fender length is not measuring the same as the Klassic Fab rear fenders, so I need a few additional measurements:
I am making a separate post from my build just in case the person with the answer isn’t following my build. I purchased a set of Klassic Fab rear fenders. I am looking to see if someone that has original fenders could take a few measurements for me to confirm my placement before drilling:
1) Edge of fender to 1st side of oval bumper bracket cutout: (mine is 1cm)
2) Width of oval cutout edge to edge: (mine is 2cm)
3) Edge of fender to center of overrider hole: (mine is 1 1/2 inches)
4) Center top of of oval bumper cutout to center of overrider hole: (mine is 3cm)
5) Overrider hole width: (mine is 1 inch)
Here is a picture of my diagram so you can use it for your measurements:

Here are some dimensions off my original ribbed fenders. Holes are a little rough, though.

raindog thanks for your response. if possible could you use a straight edge ruler and a mechanical pencil or real sharp pencil and take the following yellow measurement for me.
1) use your straight edge to follow the oval cutout and lightly scribe a line all the way through the overrider cutout. (red line in photo).
2) use the straight edge and scribe a parallel line to the red line that borders the edge of the circle hole (green line).
3) in mm give me the measurement between the lines (yellow line)
4) lastly from the top of the oval can you scribe a parallel line to the top of the circle and give me the distance (purple line)
thank you for your time.

Here you go, Doug. It’s about 3.6mm.

My overrider hole is a little damaged at the top, but the purple line dimension is about 45mm.

Not sure about anyone else, but these posts make me cringe a bit because I just got done welding mine up because my car is a euro '57 that someone had outfitted with US-style overriders at some point! Of course they didn't do nearly as good of a job or as accurate as you guys are doing here, mine were all bent out of shape and mushroomed in like they used a chainsaw to cut the hole! |

lol I hear you. I think as long as you do it correctly then its the way to go though. if I had a euro I would not be cutting these holes and I would be filling the holes if the previous owner had cut them. However, mine is a US version... so I am doing the exact opposite and having to recut the holes that the previous owner filled to make it look like a euro. back to stock for me.

… guess it's a matter-of-taste - I make all my type-ones look Euro with beautiful euro-guards and eliminate the (ugly), cumbersome towel-bars I I guess, that doesn't matter to you - good for you - z

Well I made those templates and they worked great. Got the overrider holes traced, hit the center of each hole with a center punch and drilled a 1/16” pilot hole. Thanks for those that contributed.
