Rebuilt the king/link pin spindles. It’s time to put them on and I have no idea what year beam I have. Of course the link pins were apart, so I have no idea if they were 8 or 10 shims.
Is there a way to tell if it is a 59 and earlier or 60 and later? _________________ 2 fiberglass buggies, 2 non-running Corvair Sandrails!

If the face of the trailing arm is flat , you use 10 shim. If face of trailing arm has a recess in it around hole where link pin goes, you use 8 shims, steel spacer with recess that matches trailing arm, and the o-ring that goes between shim and spacer. _________________ Joseph

My trailing arms are countersunk. I’ll use o-rings and the spacers along with 8 shims.
Thanks for the info! _________________ 2 fiberglass buggies, 2 non-running Corvair Sandrails!

FYI, The change from 10 shims to the 8 shims, dust seal and o-ring happen with chassis #2921552.
This change was made in mid year 1960.
The tang on the dust shield goes between split/pinch part of trailing arm. _________________ Joseph
