Excellent! Do you have photos of the landscape and scenery with the Ghia in it that you can post? Wishing you lots of enjoyable and problem-free driving miles in the new year.
One suggestion: Turn your headlamps on as soon as you leave your driveway, especially during the day. Gives one less excuse for other drivers "not seeing you". I learned the hard way, in my Pearl White '64 Ghia Cabrio way back in '88. 1/2 year after it was professionally repainted, a car sideswiped me in broad daylight when he left his stopped lane and turned into me as I was driving past in the adjacent lane. Guy said he did not see me. I've made it a habit to have the headlights on in my classic VWs ever since. In my modern car I just leave the headlamp switch on; they turn off with the ignition anyway. |

My wife and I always take a cruise New Years Day out to the desert and local mountains. This year we took the Golde Ghia, it’s first real long haul…about 220 miles. Car ran great, the 356 engine pushes it along fine and ran cool. Might have to plan an even longer trip in it at some point.

Put almost 1000 miles on it since I finish see the restoration. It’s become my new favorite car. I try to drive it like an adult, but the Porsche engine has a mind of its own. Took it to a nice Christmas toy drive slash cruise in Encinitas. Super nice event and perfect day.

I live in CA, they don’t enforce the laws anymore in the interest of “equity.”
But seriously, I have a temporary tag on the rear window while I wait for the DMV to process my paperwork and issue me my plates and title. It’s been two months so far… _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

Thanks for the nice compliments guys. Yeah, this one is sticking around. I have three Ghias right now, and I really should sell one, but it’s going to be tough to to decide which one.
I’ll do a drive video eventually.
I can’t recall the gear ratio now. I’m thinking it’s a 4:12 but can’t swear by that. It has a thicker side plate and some other things done. It’s written down somewhere. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

Beautiful looking Ghia. If I had a coupe it would have to have a sunroof. The older interiors are so attractive especially the painted dash. This car has it all. All around awesome car. _________________ Marc

Really looks amazing, excellent job man. I don't think I'm alone in saying I think we'd all love to see a proper driving video
So will this be bound for BAT, or is it staying in your possession for a while? _________________ Currently own:

From your post in Feb 2022:
Quote: |
I got the special built transmission for the Porsche engine and installed it along with the rear suspension. |
I looked up the final drive ratio of Porsche 356C and 912 transmissions: 4.43:1. Stock '62 Ghia trans was 4.37:1. Did your specially built trans have a ratio more like a '67 Ghia at 4.12:1 or somewhere in between? The Porsche engine revs much higher than a Ghia stock 1200 so the original Ghia trans could've worked well. |

Been racking up some miles on this thing, dialing it in as you have too with a new restoration. Thing is crazy fast, I wrapped the KPH speedo effortlessly with the S spec Porsche engine with the big bore kit that I built.
