A friend told me he was going to look in to buying this car. Hagerty and Excellance pricing don’t mention . Did they make 80 Turbo Cabs ? Could this car be grey market. It’s halfway across the country a great color combination and a big price.
He asked for my help , but I know a lot more about 356 than SC’s

Not until 1985 for the 930 cabriolet. The VIN will tell the truth, if it contains a "93" then it started as a 930 coupe. But most likely it is a base 911SC targa cut down into a cabriolet and given the turbo widebody look, a once popular conversion. |

It’s worse than that...
The first cabs came out in 83. If it is an earlier cab, it is likely a modified Targa. If it’s a Targa, then it isn’t a turbo.
1980 Turbos had the Turbo brakes and these still had floating rotors up front. Look at the position of the rear calipers. Are they in front of or behind the hub? A 78 on Turbo will have 4 piston 917 calipers mounted behind the hub, a 911 and 75-77 turbos had the same 911 calipers and trailing arms with the calipers mounted in front of the hub. |
