Anybody know the size of these lines? I've searched online and paper manuals and cannot find the correct size hoses to replace the dried/worn out ones.

Thanks for the replies! I tried taking the remaining piece, but it was so flared and destroyed that it couldn't really be cross-checked (I visited FLAPS 2X and came away with something that would not fit).
The ratwell info looks promising. I'll look over that closely.
Thanks again everyone! _________________ '73 Super Beetle

There are only a few sizes available typically in 1/16" increments for hoses of that size, so if need be just buy a foot each of each of the various hoses sizes that are close and see which one gives the fit you want. You want a reasonably tight fit, VW typically sized their hoses to to I.D. of the tube or fitting they were being attached to, which gives a good snug fit.
Of note you want Gates Barracade 30r14 hose for this application as it is resistant to ethanol and should last for decades. You can use spring clamps on the hoses if you feel it is necessary. |

It looks like it might be 9mm ID from the photos. Is this on the '68 in your signature?
This image is curious, especially the open area to the right of the photo, visible above the air cleaner housing. I am trying to understand why we can see the filler hose there. Normally there is a bulkhead there. Also on the '68 I have here in my shop now there appears to be no breather lines on the tank, also curious to me but not exactly in relation to your question. My '68 has the tank cover bulkhead still in place, in your photos it's removed but again it's odd that we can't see any holes for the screws that would secure it. _________________ SL |
