I was trying to adjust my upper torsion bar adjusting bolt as my front passengers side had too much axial play. I went to adjust the bolt and it was so loose that the lock plate was spinning around it. I coated it several times with PB blaster, loosened the lock nut and clamp bolt as per the Bentley book but when I went to adjust the bolt by tightening the bolt it snapped off.
What is the best way to fix this? Do I have to remove the torsion bar and replace it? I am not sure if I can drill it and use an easy out on it or not. I would appreciate some experience and wisdom. Thanks, Bob |

You might want to pull the bar out, and see if your local machinist, as he might have a good idea on being able to get it out (like chucking it up in a lathe and drilling it out and re-tapping it). _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Thanks, that is what I was thinking too. I should have left it alone. I am selling that car anyway. I will still have 2 others. |
