I was surprised there were not any reviews of this product on Samba. I am considering buying it. Does anyone have experience with it? Thanks.

Have you seen the DIY version? There is a topic on the samba somewhere. I did it with a piece of PVC pipe and it works great. It works well if you want to DIY.

That's great to know! Their stuff is very expensive and very impressive. I have their cupholder and love it.

Yes.

You can do something like this in a few minutes (quote is from that thread.)

Thanks for the suggestion. So as I understand it, the PVC slides inside the existing table leg to keep it from flopping? Correct me if I am wrong.

I will definitely be considering a DIY solution but I want it to look a lot more polished.

I am still hoping someone can chime in that has experience with the Van Cafe solution.

Sorry, no VC kit experience.

The PVC inside is one way, and then there is another thread with the PVC outside. Keeps the leg from snagging anything on its way back down.

I'm going for both inside and outside on my future try. Best of both and super overkill. Like most of my DIY mods...

Love the PVC fix.
Simple and very effective, always the best way. And cheap, to boot!
On my to do list.

The pvc is totally hidden when the table leg is on it. Totally polished.

Yeah I am leaning toward the DIY approach the more I think about it and dig through that thread. The electrical conduit pipe looks the best IMO. Though Delrin or something to aid friction would be nice.

I also like the cotter pin with bushing approach shown below. It would be nice to set it at the swing-over-the-stove height and swivel freely without relying on the stock screw clamp to keep it up. I may try to do something along these lines.

No need to use delrin for friction. The pipe is there to keep the table leg vertical, no friction needed. The knob when tightened holds the table leg in place just fine, and yes the cotter pin idea is great if you want to be able to freely swivel at a set height.

I assume you'd want the OD of the pipe to match the ID of the table leg as closely as possible. Otherwise there would be some slop after raising it up.
Hence the friction issue with metal on metal. Does that make sense?

Newbie question: how do you remove the rear table leg from where it sits?
Not seeing what's holding it in. It swivels but won't pull up and out at all.
thanks

It really does not have any discernible slop on mine and I am using the outer PVC pipe method. The PVC is not a snug fit to the metal table leg but it seems to work just fine. I'd not sweat it for the first try. You can always tweak it later if you desire.

Oh that looks slick... If it would provide good clamping to keep the thing from flopping around when underway it seems like it'd be worth the $$ .. but doesn't seem like that's part of the design intent necessarily

I too have their cupholders and really like them though

Thanks to those that went before me I ended up going the DIY route for this.

After a trip to Lowe's, I found out 1" CPVC pipe is the same diameter as the stock plastic base cap that sits in the lower bracket (1" PVC is a different size oddly enough). The 3/4" CPVC pipe fits perfectly inside the existing base cap. CPVC is also a off-white kinda vintage color which is fitting. I sanded the printed lettering off, glued the two together and shimmed it with a bit of tape to create a solid friction fit with the base cap.

I wanted to use a cotter pin to lock the table in the over-the-stove position so I don't need three hands to adjust it. The cotter pin came from Lowes, but I needed a collar for it to ride on. I couldn't find anything in the right size or color, so I ended up having a part machined at a local shop out of brown Delrin.

It works like a champ and looks pretty OEM IMHO. If anyone is interested in the Delrin collar I can get the shop to machine more (not cheap however).

How much would you like for the Delrin brown collar?
I`d love one!
