I found this one in one of my builds. It has a cool looking center with some sort of felt O-ring.
Is it just an early type or am I sitting on a super rare, million dollar, gland nut?!?!!?

The felt is there to contain lubricant for the pilot.... similar on a distributor shaft.
Seems like the later ones have felt and a needle bearing... I’ll have to go dig one outta my stash and look, but I think they do. |

that's a 25hp / early 36hp style gland nut. the brass/bronze / graphite bushing was the style at that time, before the "later" type with needle bearings was used. the bushings are replaceable (if you can find them). they are somewhat uncommon gland nuts. neat to look at, but i wouldn't use one.
