Hi,
I have a 67 bus. The engine code is AE, so I believe from my research it is a '71 engine. The carb that is on the engine is a solex30pict-1, which is more period correct for the 67 bus.
I have been trying to figure out what is the correct fuel pump that should go with this combination and need help on this. My thought is the fuel pump should match to the 30PICT-1 carb.
I have look up "without guesswork" manuals, the table shows fuel pump with VW3 ID mark for Type2 (1500/1600).
I have seen variation of VW3 fuel pump with round/dome top and square top. Which one is the correct one? Should that be the threaded fitting or tube type connections?
Please help. Thanks! |

Looking at the Owner's Manual from Aug 66 and Dec 66 looks like a round top Pierburg. With push on fuel line inlet and outlets.
I have been having great luck with Bill at Sparkwerks with his rebuilt Pierburg pumps! _________________ enjoy the journey,

Don't make your decision based on an owner's manual. You will find that they are notoriously inaccurate. No offense intended to galexander. It's always been my understanding that Buses kept the threaded inlet later than the Beetles, how late I don't recall exactly. _________________ Roads Scholar &

Talk to Bill, he rebuilds fuel pumps and might be able to tell you what's correct. If he doesn't know he'll tell you. If do need a pump he can provide one.

My one owner before me numbers matching '67 Kombi October '66 build had a dome top threaded inlet.
I personally think the next issue fuel pump with the push on inlet is better for vibration and ease of care. |
