I 'am looking for a source to purchase a replacement front windshield for my 62 Ghia coupe. My present windshield has the original chrome trim which I would like to stick with. Believe this is called American trim NOT Cal-Look.
Thanks for your help |

Unfortunately Airhead Parts is selling a Cal-Look only Ghia windshield |

Out of curiosity, what sort of shipping price did they hit you with on that?
And did you install C-shaped trim?
My 66 has an aftermarket windshield, that's also undersized. Been keeping an eye out for replacements. _________________ Currently own:

They charged $64 for shipping (normally free shipping for items over $149).
You can see it was very carefully packed:
Just reinstalled the trim that was already on it — not sure of the profile:

Received a reply from Mid America Motorworks regarding shipping costs to Canada:
https://www.mamotorworks.com/vw/product/vw-1956-19...ass-340050
'There are three shipping estimates for this windshield glass. They are $130.00 through standard UPS, $205.00 through UPS expedited, and $150.00 through FedEx ground.' |

Not sure if ESI is still in business, their building burned down a couple of weeks ago. _________________ It's not about the window, it's about the people.

Yikes, Im pretty sure they supplied windshield to MidAmerica.
Airhead was only selling Cal style rubber screens last time I checked. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

As a follow up to my query...
Determined its best to order the specific windshield through your local auto glass shops rather than dealing with an online purchase which obviously includes the high shipping costs.
The quote I received through a local auto glass shop including a professional installation worked out to over 45% less compared to buying online. Trick is finding such an auto glass shop that has an employee with vintage car glass installation experience.
Good Luck.. |
