Sure is funny lookin' but funny lookin' is sorta my jam.
I could probably still keep my van around though.
I really need to see how the whole electric vehicle thing works out for extended travel especially of some of that travel is more remote or possibly off road.
If you are just rolling across the country on the highway, then there are plenty of charging stations and fast charge places to keep you rolling similar to a gas powered car but it's a bit different if you are trying to avoid highways and bigger cities. _________________ Pretty normal daily driver build

It’s kinda interesting. Neat idea as long as I don’t have to subsidize the cost of it or the infrastructure associated. _________________ 1973 Westy (shared birthday)

You are still not sitting over the drive axle
Because of safety tests, we will never see this again in america |

~200mi range is not sufficient for my vanagon travel needs
even locally it's not enough.. there aren't any super chargers out in the woods where I camp. _________________

It's remarkable that start-up car companies are a thing. I guess Tesla paved the way, but I can't imagine the capital you would need to do this.
I would like to have an electric daily driver. I would never swap a new car for a classic however. _________________ '85 Westfalia 1.9L

I saw the van version on Jay Leno’s Garage. The truck concept is way more attractive to me. |

Gotta love their feel good, comity driven, corporate-speak description of their company:
"Canoo is a Los Angeles-based company that has developed breakthrough electric vehicles that are reinventing the automotive landscape with bold innovations in design, pioneering technologies, and a unique business model that defies traditional ownership to put customers first. Distinguished by its experienced team – totaling over 350 employees from leading technology and automotive companies – Canoo has designed a modular electric platform purpose-built to deliver maximum vehicle interior space and adaptable to support a wide range of vehicle applications for consumers and businesses."
Translation: Canoo is a company that builds electric vehicles in LA and has 350 employees. |

Volvo has been doing that for a while (sorry, ex Volvo dealer guy here)
https://www.volvocars.com/us/care-by-volvo/?utm_so...nDEALw_wcB
they tested it out with the XC40.
in my opinion it is a long term rental. i can see why some would do it, but meh, i'd rather own then rent _________________

thats the whole raison d'etre for pie in the sky never-gonna-sell-a-single-vehicle companies like this. theres so much VC money in this space that its easy for some motivated fast talkers to goad easy cash out of them.
easiest case you gobble up endless for a few years and flop. or if theres anything remotely feasible there you get partnered up or bought out.
think nikola for the first case, rivian for the latter.
getting some folks together to artsy up a few digital concept vehicles, maybe slam together some prototypes that run, then start funding rounds and see what happens _________________ MegaSquirt resource - SpitfireEFI.com

I do a fair bit of environmental consulting to the mining industry. There's a saying, particularly applicable to smaller junior companies; "there's two kinds of mines, one who's purpose it to extract resources, another who's purpose is to extract investor's money".
That said, I think the truck is pretty cool. My own van only gets about 200 miles on a "charge" as it is. _________________ '91 Westfalia GL Automatic (GTA "Turbo" Rebuild w/Peloquin) and 2.3L GoWesty Engine |

Not cab forward, it's more like the Chevy Lumina/Pontiac TranSport/Olds Silhouette vans of the last century; the Dustbuster look of a van with normal seating and a windshield projecting waaay forward. _________________ '87 Westy in Wolfram Grey Metallic |
