Yep!
Not only that but I ran a wire that I’ll leave connected just for the remote starter use!
It will assist anyone who wants to steal my Van too!

ooh. i like that idea! i HATE going under the van when things are wet or muddy. it would be wonderful to have a breakout right under the lid. my old Mercedes has a terminal block that is easy to access and i use that. _________________ -dan

I had opted to reuse the tank, it was clean and rust free.

the tank on my van was removed when i got it. seemed fairly clean, but i cleaned it anyway. then.... i found out a new tank was 80 bux SHIPPED
total waste of time even thinking of screwing with my old tank. in the end, i got the new tank and opted for the 12mm outlet instead of the 7mm.....for 80 bux shipped from ebay.
the tank was such a surprise being so cheap, it felt like i was stealing....
i mean honestly, what's another 80.00 at this point?
glad it was an ez fix _________________

Don't feel bad, I suggested to a tech back in the day on a Monday to check the fuel volume. By Friday the rabbit was still not running and it was handed off to the shop foreman. Tank was out of fuel. Funny the things you remember.
I have run my race car out of fuel and still had 45 psi on the gauge. I use a bosch pump and have a permanent gauge. The fuel pressure gauge is good for a lot, but not a fuel level.
My bet is you won't ever forget this. I'd call it "A Result". _________________ ☮️ |

Whew! When I saw the Subject, I was worried you were handing out lottery tickets to get rid of it
Now.... once you've done that to your fuel, guess what is in store for your injectors, again??

I've run out of gas too Dave, and now you get to second guess what else happened that you'll never know. Until one day you say to yourself, "I should send out my injectors again" and when you install them back again, you have 15% better running. Maybe it was the few years between and they got slowly worse, or maybe it was that way since this "event" ... Anyway, glad that you are keeping it and also glad it is running.
(I have been really grumpy since Saturday, as I have yet to find and repair my coolant leak AND haven't had my lunch-hour naps due to no Westy at the office!!! I have been really relying on a mid day nap in order to just make it through a work day recently, and have to admit I am not thinking by best right now.)
But, I'd still take a ticket, next time you nearly throw in the towel _________________ '87 Westy 'Flossie','86 Westy 'R1','86 tintop GL - Subi2.2 'J2','83.5 stock tintop L 'ZoomBus','74 Karmann Ghia, '63 Notch |

I had a similar thing happen. Ran great, then nothing. Checked everything over and over except looking in the tank...at least I confirmed that when the gauge shows 1/4 its really means there is 0/4 left. |

My Volvo 122 was my second car as a teen. Fuel gauge was always inop. I would set the trip odometer every fill up. I could go 200 miles between fill ups. Ran out of fuel 3 times in 10 years. 196 miles once, 197 miles another time and of course 198 miles. Doh.
Ever since, I have always reset the trip odometer. Especially on the Vanagon. The fuel gauge swings so much below a 1/4 reading, it will put me in the nut house. _________________ ☮️ |
