If this is as solid as it looks, I think it's a good deal.

Just yank out all that electric crap and put in an OG motor or a Subaru swap:

Did we talk about this Brazilian? (Ah, I see we did...)

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1973-volkswagen-bus-29/

The parcel shelf is missing, is that normal for Brazilians? What would the steering column brake be bolted to, the instrument pod?

Those Brazilians are decimating the 100k Split price point. Lot of chumps holding those.

When it comes to BAT they almost get as many Brasilian turds as eBay now. I skim right over as soon as i see where they are from there. Not my thing.

Truly curious.... has anybody REALLY (in USA) paid a gains tax after selling their vehicle for 50k?

I have, that money in the bank had to come from somewhere. (Though my sales price was less than $50k)

This is also why it's stupid to underreport/underpay state sales tax when purchasing a high value bus. When you resell, you can easily prove your basis price if you pay the tax. Haven't been audited for this, but you're setting yourself up for failure if you get picked in the IRS lottery.

While I don't know anyone who was tagged by the IRS for underreporting income from buying and selling buses, I've known TONS of guys totally screwed during divorces for exactly this.

Motor vehicles are capital gains tax exempt for private individuals in the UK. This is one of the reasons why prices keep getting pushed up so high here - the rich see them as a tax free 'investment'...

I think this is why a bunch of people try to get cash or partial cash when selling a high value vehicle.

Plus the thrill/paranoia of having a shitload of cash at once can't be underestimated. Very Happy
I believe one of the members on here had around $75K in his backpack at a show once after he sold a 23-Window.

I have felt uncomfortable with $500 in my pocket. Most I ever had with a sale was $15000 in my pocket and I was paranoid.

$73k sold.

NOt bad. >$76k w/all the fees. Plus sales tax (10% where I am in Seattle)!

Good looking driver that just needs the front seat and all new interior.

I didn't go review all the pics again but this doesn't seem too bad to me.
You could definitely put some more work and money into the interior and possibly be ahead on things, depending on what you could do yourself and the overall cost.

Sales tax on $76K or ?
Arizona has sales tax too but on the original price of the vehicle last time I did it so only 9%ish on around $2200.

Just saw that. Holy cow, that might be a game changer. Great bus, too.
