I'm confused as to why the birth certificate says it's a Samba? |

It’s a 13 window, maybe they called all deludes a Samba? That is confusing though, I thought only 23 and 21 windows were called Sambas?
Auction is nearing the end and it’s only at $45k. Since everyone knows the guy was wanting over $103k for it maybe no one is bidding seriously because no one is foolish enough to pay that much for a fake, albeit a well done one? _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

They probably made a mistake when they saw the Model #.
There have been lots of reports of mistakes on birth certificates recently.
My understanding is they no longer have knowledge vintage VW people doing them for customers. _________________ How to Post Photos

Sold For $106,000 On 1/23/22
This same Bus was bid to $105,000, on 12/24/20, and did not meet reserve. Doubt it will this time either, for that price.

Rear hatch and decklid don't really seem to fit, and seeing some painted over rust pitting too. Not to mention WTF is up with those tires. Somebody who likes "shiny" will still pay too much. |

Likely the seals. At least on the rear hatch. If you go back to the thread and look at the fitment in primer it looks good, it’s after paint that it look like it’s bulging out on the sides.
The decklid is missing the chrome bezel and I bet is also bulging from the rubber. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

Sold For $162,000 On 1/31/22
This should've sold for more, when compared to BJ and Sotheby's recent showings. Maybe the new owner can sell this BAT bus on BJ or Sotheby's for a profit.
Such a nice Bus, a '61 with matching lower-half dash board, and walk-thru, very cool and unique features. _________________ "OG = Original German" -- TheSamba.com dictionary |
