We seem to have lost our manners.
Welcome to the samba. That's hell of a first post. Thanks for that.
74Shovel, That's the power of turbo's. You don't have to wind up the engine very high to get that kind of "Warp Speed" out of it.
Though, I imagine the dude driving the car had a little work done balancing the rotating bits.
I'm waiting for buggee's response. If they sell/ship to the USA.
I have the perfect little fresh 1600. That would be a good candidate for the turbo setup.
And I have a turbo in storage that would fit the budget kit too. _________________ I have learned over the years.

The engine was begging for 5th gear. I remember years ago, I was driving my bug on the freeway and tried to shift to 5th gear, like I was driving my Tacoma. _________________ Parts for sale https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/search.php?username=APPLEGREENVW

Are they running gasoline, or alcohol? This would be sweet with a megasquirt engine management system, and E85. But that would affect my resale value. _________________ 1968 Beetle (storage)

I haven't tried. I was hoping you would get a response from Spaturbo.
I'm curious as to how they have controlled the ignition timing under boost.
Thanks for the update anyway. _________________ I have learned over the years.

Thank you for the link.
It looks like the exchange rate puts the cost of the complete kit including the turbine at about $640 US. I have sent them an e-mail asking if they ship to the US and what the cost would be, including shipping. I'll report back if they respond. |
If they respond I would be interested in this kit as well...i was going to build my own sometime but this looks like an easy day and a good price. _________________ 1971 Standard Beetle 1600DP Resto Daily Driver |

I like to drive fast, but not sure I want to drive that fast in a beetle, when the only thing between me and the bumper of that truck is a gas tank. |

Ya I was thrown by the two carb question when he asked me. I don't know that it is a blow through. I just answered single carb and placed the order. If it arrives, and my maker is willing, I'll post pictures of what's in the box and we can all stare at it together scratching our heads. My plan is to open this discussion on the engine section when the time is right. Let's see what becomes of all this. _________________ 1966 Sportsmobile Camper https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=...mp;start=0

I can’t wait to see… If it’s as legit as it seems from the videos I might be placed in that same exact order. I went to do a weber set up on my car but I’ll tell you want for 800 bucks I’ll definitely put that single car back on and turbo the crap out of me good luck brother _________________ 1971 Standard Beetle 1600DP Resto Daily Driver |
